Abu Faour Highlights Rashaya’s Independence Museum as a Beacon of Lebanon’s History

Abu faour: Member of the 'Democratic Gathering', MP Wael Abu Faour, emphasized the significance of visiting Rashaya's historic sites, such as the Independence Stairs and Museum, during a media tour. These sites, funded by the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and inaugurated under the patronage of the President of the Republic, represented by the First Lady, capture a pivotal moment in Lebanon's history, marking the nation's journey to independence and showcasing a unified national spirit.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Abu Faour stated that the Rashaya Castle Museum vividly illustrates the political and historical context leading up to Lebanon's independence, featuring rooms that once housed high-ranking officials, including the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic, as well as a French officer. He highlighted the museum's role in educating new generations about the historical events and political climate that culminated in Lebanon's independence.

Expressing gratitude towards former Minister Leila Solh Hamadeh for her crucial contribution to the museum's restoration, Abu Faour outlined ambitions to establish the museum as a national landmark, particularly for students. Efforts are underway, in collaboration with the municipality, to formalize agreements with the Ministries of Culture and Education, aiming to promote student visits to the museum as a means of experiencing history beyond textbooks.

In his concluding remarks, Abu Faour urged media outlets to showcase the allure of Rashaya and the significance of the Rashaya Castle Museum, emphasizing the media's role in encouraging Lebanese citizens to visit and experience the unifying national moment it represents.
