Agriculture Minister Declares State of Emergency in Lebanon’s Forest Sector

Beirut: In a bold move to confront mounting environmental threats, Agriculture Minister Dr. Nizar Hani declared a state of emergency in Lebanon's forest sector, citing the urgent need to protect the country's woodland resources.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the announcement is part of a national plan to safeguard forests and ensure their sustainability through strict measures aimed at curbing illegal activities that accelerate deforestation and desertification. Key actions include coordination with the Ministry of Defense to monitor illegal logging sites, with instructions to intervene immediately, and with the Ministry of Justice to expedite and toughen penalties against violators.
