Beirut: The Ministry of Agriculture on Friday affirmed that all required veterinary and health quarantine procedures for the cattle vessel arriving from Egypt were implemented in line with approved standards. The ship reached Beirut Port on 16 December, where samples were taken and tests confirmed the animals were free of diseases, including foot-and-mouth disease. On 19 December, the cattle were vaccinated with the new SET 1 vaccine. Ongoing monitoring, quarantine measures, and field inspections are continuing under ministry supervision.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Ministry's measures ensure that all cattle entering the country meet health and safety criteria, safeguarding both animal and public health. The process includes rigorous testing and vaccination protocols designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. The implementation of the SET 1 vaccine further enhances the biosecurity of the livestock.
The cattle shipment is part of a broader initiative to maintain a steady supply of livestock while upholding high health standards.
