Vice Prime Minister, Caretaker Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Zeina Akar, on Friday held talks with Cypriot President, Nicos Anastasiades, over the situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as the distinguished historical relations between the two countries. The pair also discussed the means to help Lebanon in light of the prevailing crises.
According to a statement by Akar’s office, the Cypriot president expressed his country’s “permanent readiness to support and assist Lebanon and stand by its side.”
Minister Akar also met with Cypriot Foreign Minister, Nikos Christodoulides, with whom she discussed current developments on the regional and international arenas, in addition to bilateral relations. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two ministers on cooperation within the oil and gas sector.
The Cypriot minister later hosted a lunch banquet in honor of Minister Akar and the accompanying delegation.
