Baghdad Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi met today, Wednesday, in Washington, the majority leader of the Democratic Party in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, and the leader of the Republican minority, Mitch McConnell, and a number of senators from the Republican and Democratic parties.
During the meeting, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, ways of enhancing them, and emphasizing Iraq’s growing role in the region and in achieving stability.
The meeting also discussed the challenges facing Iraq in the security and economic aspects, and facing the Corona pandemic, and the vision of the Iraqi government was also heard regarding the reforms that it has embarked on, through the reform white paper, and the overall situation in Iraq.
The members of the US Senate welcomed the Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation, and stressed that the United States seeks to strengthen its relations with Iraq in various fields and levels.
