Beirut: Supreme Islamic Shia Council’s Vice President, Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, returned to Beirut this evening, concluding a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. In a statement made at Beirut Airport’s VIP lounge, Sheikh al-Khatib highlighted the purpose of his visit, which was to participate in the Conference on Rapprochement of Islamic Schools of Thought. The visit provided a platform for exchanging views with delegation heads and Iranian officials on the importance of coordination between Muslim scholars and Islamic nations.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Sheikh al-Khatib underscored the critical need for such coordination, especially in light of recent Israeli attacks on Qatar and the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon. He expressed hope that the upcoming conference in Doha would serve as a pivotal moment to strengthen relations and develop a unified Arab-Islamic strategy to counteract the aggressive actions of Israel. He described Israel as an “unbridled monster” that shows no restraint in attacking Arab countries.
Sheikh al-Khatib expressed his desire for the Doha summit to result in decisive actions rather than just statements with no tangible outcomes. He stressed the importance of the summit as a catalyst for implementing practical and deterrent measures against the ongoing aggression, urging that it should serve as a turning point in the Arab-Islamic response to the conflict.
