Amb. Sasahara: US Committed to Kuwait’s Security, Sovereignty

KUWAIT CITY: The United States remains steadfast in its commitment to Kuwait's security and sovereignty, as emphasized by US Ambassador Karen Sasahara during a celebratory event marking the 248th US Independence Day at the US embassy in Kuwait. Ambassador Sasahara highlighted the enduring and robust relationship between the two nations, underscoring the strategic partnership that spans various domains, with a particular focus on security. According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Sasahara remarked on the tested security ties between the United States and Kuwait, referencing the US's pivotal role in the liberation of Kuwait during wartime. She further noted the significant cultural exchanges between the countries, citing thousands of Kuwaiti students who have studied at American universities and returned to contribute to Kuwait's development. Ambassador Sasahara also acknowledged the contributions of Dr. Fatima Al-Salem, Director General of the Kuwait News Agency, who earned a doctorate in mass communicat ions from Indiana University. She praised KUNA's efforts in countering misinformation through the KUNA Observatory and its advancements in modern technology and artificial intelligence. Additionally, the ambassador mentioned the substantial number of Kuwaiti citizens visiting the United States annually for various purposes, including trade, investment, medical, and tourism. On regional developments, particularly in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, Ambassador Sasahara asserted that diplomacy is the sole path to ending the ongoing violence and facilitating the return and rehabilitation of those affected. She called for decisive actions towards establishing a stable and secure State of Palestine and expressed hope for global peace and an end to the bloodshed, particularly in the Middle East.
