Beirut: The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, issued a statement marking Russia's National Unity Day, celebrated annually on November 4. Ambassador Rudakov said the occasion symbolizes the moral strength, resilience, and cohesion of the Russian people, recalling the events of 1612 when citizens from all walks of life united to liberate their homeland and defend its independence, putting an end to the Polish-Lithuanian occupation of Moscow. He noted that Russia's true power lies 'not in numbers or territory, but in the unity of its people and their unwavering commitment to justice and sovereignty.'
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Ambassador Rudakov emphasized that National Unity Day is 'more than a commemoration of the past,' describing it as a living expression of the Russian spirit - the ability to preserve identity, overcome adversity, and remain faithful to one's values despite external challenges. This enduring spirit, he added, continues to guide Russia through the complexities of the modern world.
Commenting on current global transformations, Ambassador Rudakov said that the message of unity remains highly relevant, calling for 'dialogue, not division; respect for civilizational diversity, not imposed uniformity.' He reaffirmed Russia's belief that a just and stable international order must be built on equality among nations, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to peace - principles that, he noted, also underpin the friendship between Russia and Lebanon.
Highlighting the deep understanding between the Russian and Lebanese peoples, Rudakov said both nations share 'a deep sense of dignity, a love for freedom, and a respect for tradition,' having endured hardship yet preserved their moral and cultural strength. This mutual understanding, he stressed, forms the solid foundation of the partnership between the two countries.
The ambassador concluded by extending his warmest congratulations to Russian compatriots living in Lebanon and to the Lebanese people, expressing hope that 'the spirit of unity will inspire us to strengthen the bonds between our peoples and build together a world based on truth, justice, and respect for human dignity.'
