Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received a phone call from the Vatican State Secretary, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who conveyed the Holy See's support for Aoun's efforts to strengthen security and stability across Lebanon, particularly in the country's southern region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, during the call, Parolin inquired about conditions along the southern border and developments following the Washington negotiations. He said the Holy See is closely monitoring the situation in Lebanon, adding that Pope Leo XIV continues to pray for an end to the suffering of the Lebanese people and for lasting peace throughout the country.
In turn, Aoun thanked Parolin for the Vatican's continued support and the Pope's keen concern for Lebanon, affirming ongoing commitment to restoring security and stability nationwide and extending state authority across all Lebanese territory.
President Aoun asked Cardinal Parolin to convey the Lebanese people's gratitude to Pope Leo XIV for his affection for Lebanon and its people.
