Riyadh: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, has announced that recent discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have laid the groundwork for a new phase of relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. Aoun, who departed Riyadh on Tuesday morning en route to Cairo, was accompanied by Foreign Minister Youssef Raji to attend the Arab Extraordinary Summit on the Palestinian cause.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun expressed his gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman through a telegram, acknowledging the warm reception received during his visit. He highlighted the importance of their discussions, which aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors. Aoun also expressed the Lebanese people's appreciation for King Salman's support and conveyed his hopes for a follow-up meeting to further develop their bilateral discussions.
In his letter to the Crown Prince, Aoun emphasized the historic bonds and deep-rooted ties between the two nations. He reiterated his commitment to strengthening these relations and expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support provided by King Salman to Lebanon and its people. A joint statement regarding the talks is anticipated later in the day, marking a significant step in the diplomatic engagement between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
