Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, has condemned the recent Israeli strikes on several towns in the Bekaa and southern regions, including Sidon. These attacks have raised serious questions as they coincide with a meeting of the "Mechanism" committee, which is tasked with halting hostilities.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun remarked that Israel's ongoing attacks seem aimed at undermining efforts on local, regional, and international levels to de-escalate tensions. This continues despite Lebanon's cooperation and governmental measures to extend state authority south of the Litani River. Such measures have been implemented by the Lebanese army, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
President Aoun reiterated his appeal to the international community, urging them to intervene effectively to halt Israel's continuous aggression against Lebanon. He emphasized the necessity for the committee to fulfill its tasks with the agreement of the concerned parties and international support.
