Beirut: President Joseph Aoun held separate meetings with MPs Ghassan Hasbani and Ahmad Al-Khair, focusing on state sovereignty, the general situation in Lebanon, his visit to Rome, and the newly approved general amnesty law.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, MP Ghassan Hasbani emphasized that the legitimate state is the sole representative of the Lebanese people on all platforms, asserting that no entity outside the state has the right to speak on Lebanon's behalf. He highlighted the state's strength as deriving from the legitimacy granted by the people and its institutions, as well as the ability to cooperate to achieve sovereignty. Hasbani praised President Aoun for his active role in bolstering the state's position both domestically and internationally.
In his meeting with MP Ahmad Al-Khair, President Aoun examined the general situation in the country along with the outcomes of his recent visit to Rome. Discussions with Al-Khair included the framework agreement and how these talks could further efforts to stabilize Lebanon.
The meetings also covered the general amnesty law recently passed by Parliament. Al-Khair brought attention to the case of Khaled Mallas, a Lebanese man abducted in Australia, urging the president to investigate the matter. President Aoun committed to contacting both the Australian ambassador to Lebanon and the Lebanese ambassador to Australia to pursue the case and clarify the circumstances surrounding Mallas's abduction.
