Aoun Stresses Need to Safeguard Christian Presence in Middle East

Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Monday reaffirmed the importance of preserving the Christian presence in the Arab East and curbing the emigration of Christians, who, he emphasized, form an integral part of both Arab and Islamic societies. Aoun's remarks came during a meeting at Baabda Palace with the Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, Mar Awa III.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun highlighted the historical significance of Christians in the region and their contributions to cultural and social developments. He stressed the essential role Christians play in fostering dialogue and coexistence within the diverse communities of the Middle East. The President also expressed concern over the increasing emigration trends among Christian populations, urging immediate actions to address the underlying causes and promote stability and peace in the region.
