Beirut: On the occasion of Easter, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in Lebanon, Monsignor Paolo Borgia, visited the Italian Contingent of UNIFIL at the Shama base. He was received by Brigadier General Nicola Mandolesi, the Commander of Sector West.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Monsignor Borgia conducted a Holy Mass at the UNP 2-3 base chapel. The ceremony saw the presence of Major General Aroldo L¡zaro, Head of Mission and UNIFIL Force Commander, along with representatives from the Lebanese Armed Forces, battalion commanders of Sector West, members of the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L), and numerous Blue Helmets.
During his homily, the Apostolic Nuncio expressed gratitude to the Italian peacekeepers for their dedication to peace and stability in southern Lebanon. He highlighted that peace is always the result of sacrifice and that the presence of the military serves as a sign of hope.
