Beirut: Prime Minister Najib Mikati welcomed Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the Arab League, at the Grand Serail on Monday. The meeting was attended by AL assistance chief Hossam Zaki, among others.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aboul Gheit stated that his visit to Lebanon was to congratulate the Lebanese people, government, and president on the election of a new president. He expressed optimism for the future, saying, "I am thrilled because I expect good things for the Lebanese state and people." Aboul Gheit also expressed hope that a new prime minister would be designated soon.
