Yarzeh:Lebanon's Army Commander, General Rodolph Haykal, met with United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix at his Yarzeh office. Lacroix was accompanied by UN Deputy Special Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon Imran Riza, and UNIFIL Force Commander Major General Diodato Abagnara.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the talks focused on recent developments in Lebanon and the region, emphasizing the crucial role of UNIFIL in maintaining stability in southern Lebanon.
The discussions also explored possible alternatives for the period following UNIFIL's withdrawal. Participants highlighted the risks of a security vacuum that could destabilize the area once the force departs.
Lacroix reiterated the importance of supporting the Lebanese military during this challenging time, acknowledging its essential role.
