Army Chief Engages with UK Defense and Local Leaders on Lebanon’s Situation

Beirut: Lebanon's Army Commander, Major General Rodolphe Haykal, engaged in a series of significant meetings at his Yarzeh office, addressing the nation's pressing issues and exploring avenues for international cooperation. On Tuesday, Maj. Gen. Haykal met with MP Melhem Riachy, focusing on Lebanon's current general situation.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Maj. Gen. Haykal also welcomed UK Deputy Chief of Defense Staff, Air Marshal Harvey Smith, along with an accompanying delegation, including the British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell. Their discussions centered around enhancing military collaboration between the Lebanese and British armed forces.

Further, Maj. Gen. Haykal had a meeting with the European Union's Special Envoy for the Mediterranean, Patrick Simonnet, and his delegation. The talks revolved around the general situation in Lebanon and the broader Mediterranean region.

Additionally, the army chief held discussions with Mohammed Khafaji, Head of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) Office, as well as Fadia Safi, President of the "Sesobel" Foundation. These meetings covered various issues pertinent to Lebanon's security and social services.
