Beirut: The Lebanese Army has successfully recovered the body of a soldier who was killed during an Israeli airstrike near the Qaroun Lake dam in West Bekaa. The retrieval followed persistent field efforts amid ongoing drone activity by Israeli forces.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the area had been under continuous security threats, rendering access to the site impossible the previous day. The soldier was targeted during an airstrike on May 26, 2026, which also resulted in the deaths of several paramedics who were engaged in a humanitarian mission to evacuate him.
The Lebanese Army Command-Directorate of Orientation confirmed that the airstrikes had posed significant challenges in their recovery operations, highlighting the intense conditions under which the army unit operated to retrieve the fallen soldier's body.
