Manama: The Art Centre of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) hosted the opening of the Bahrain Arts Society Annual Exhibition. The event was graced by the presence of Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the National Arts Council and Honorary President of the Bahrain Arts Society; Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the BACA; and Shaikha Marwa bint Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Arts Society. They were joined by ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, and a group of artists and figures from Bahrain's visual arts and cultural scene.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this year's exhibition is a celebration of the Bahrain Arts Society's journey since its establishment in 1983. Over the past four decades, the Society has played a crucial role in supporting creative achievements through various exhibitions and art workshops. These initiatives have significantly influenced the cultural movement both locally and regionally, enhanced international partnerships, and contributed to the global circulation of Bahraini artistic projects within modern and contemporary contexts.
The exhibition showcases works by 93 visual artists, representing various artistic schools and approaches. The displayed art pieces illustrate key milestones in the evolution of the visual arts movement and the intellectual and aesthetic changes accompanying it. This collection of contemporary artistic experiences and practices embodies local identity and is expressed through painting, sculpture, photography, and multimedia.
The exhibition will be open to the public until February 20, with daily visiting hours from 9 am to 8 pm at the Art Centre.
