Bassil: Cross of Faith and Tolerance Will Remain Glorious on Our Mountains, We Will Remain Rooted in Our Land


Beirut: Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil emphasized the enduring significance of faith and perseverance in a recent statement on his “X” account. “Our mountains have borne the cross for more than 1,700 years,” Bassil wrote, highlighting the historical and cultural importance embedded in the region. He noted that each year, on September 14, there is a commemoration of the meaning and glory of the cross, underscoring a deep-rooted tradition.



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Bassil expressed a somber reflection on recent history, recalling the martyrdom of Sheikh Bashir since 1982, a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made in defending a united and great Lebanon. In his message, Bassil remained resolute in his belief that the cross, symbolizing faith and tolerance, will continue to stand tall on Lebanon’s mountains. He affirmed the steadfastness of the people, asserting that they will remain firmly anchored in their homeland.
