Beirut:Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, met on Wednesday with the new French Ambassador to Lebanon, Patrick Durel. The meeting, which also included the Embassy's Political Counselor Rapha«lle Samama and MP Nada Boustani, focused on several key issues.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, MP Bassil extended congratulations to Ambassador Durel on his new role, expressing hopes for his success and highlighting the historic relations between Lebanon and France.
The discussion covered the general situation in Lebanon, with particular attention to the ongoing war and Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon, as well as broader political and security developments in the region. The participants emphasized the importance of addressing the repercussions of these conflicts on Lebanon and the region, stressing the need to work towards ending the wars, halting attacks, and respecting state sovereignty to foster stability and pursue crisis resolution through political and diplomatic means.
Additionally, the talks underscored the necessity of passing reform laws to restore the proper functioning of state institutions.
