Berri Calls for Joint Parliamentary Committee Session on May 22

Beirut: House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday invited the parliamentary committees on Finance and Budget, Administration and Justice, National Defense, Interior and Municipalities, and Public Health, Labor, and Social Affairs to a joint session at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the session will review an agenda that includes several significant legislative proposals. The committees will consider a proposed law on establishing a mandatory universal primary healthcare system aimed at addressing healthcare accessibility. Additionally, they will discuss a draft law concerning the election of Lebanese Parliament members, which is crucial for the upcoming electoral processes.

Furthermore, the session will address the draft law on electing members of the Senate, as well as the Draft Orthodox Gathering electoral law. Proposed amendments to the parliamentary electoral law are also on the agenda, which may affect how future elections are conducted.

The meeting will also cover the draft law on Senate elections and related issues. The discussions are expected to lay the groundwork for potential legislative changes in Lebanon.
