Berri Discusses Bilateral Cooperation With Iraqi Trade Undersecretary

Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with Iraq's Deputy Minister of Trade, Sattar Jabbar Al-Jabri, and his delegation at Ain el-Tineh. The discussions centered on the bilateral relations between the two nations and Iraq's continued support for Lebanon.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Iraq's Charg© d'Affaires in Lebanon, Nada Majoul, was also present at the meeting. Al-Jabri detailed Iraq's assistance during the recent Israeli aggression on Lebanon, which included material aid and the hosting of displaced Lebanese citizens. He announced Iraq's future plans to send 320,000 tons of wheat through land routes once the situation in Syria stabilizes.

Al-Jabri further noted Iraq's ongoing efforts, mentioning that they have hosted 57,222 displaced Lebanese, with 6,000 still residing in Iraq. The purpose of the delegation's visit is to provide aid to affected areas and Syrian refugees in Lebanon, as well as to assess potential projects in education and healthcare that could receive support from the Iraqi government.

Al-Jabri concluded by reaffirming Iraq's commitment to Lebanon, emphasizing it as a duty rooted in shared heritage. He expressed his hopes for strengthened ties and additional aid to support Lebanon's recovery and future development.
