Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri held significant meetings at Ain El Tineh Palace with key political figures, focusing on the ongoing political situation and legislative affairs amid Israeli attacks on Lebanon. MP Simon Abi Ramia, head of the parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee, was among those who met with Berri, discussing critical proposals for a ceasefire under international sponsorship. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Abi Ramia emphasized the importance of his meeting with Speaker Berri, highlighting Berri's pivotal role in the national and political arena. The discussions were timely, given the serious ceasefire proposal backed by American and European, particularly French, entities. Abi Ramia conveyed the diplomatic atmosphere from Europe, expressing optimism about the progress in negotiations aimed at achieving a lasting ceasefire and stability in southern Lebanon and beyond. Abi Ramia noted that while there is progress, final decisions are pending further negotiations on the impl ementation mechanisms of the proposal. Comments from concerned parties are awaited to advance the discussions. He expressed hope for halting the ongoing destruction in Lebanon, aiming for a positive outcome to facilitate reconstruction efforts and restore public life. In addition, Berri met with Tashnag Party Secretary-General MP Hagop Pakradounian to discuss the latest political developments and legislative matters. The talks underscored the importance of stability and necessary reforms required across financial, economic, and social sectors in Lebanon.
