Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed a delegation of U.S. envoys, including Thomas Barrack and Morgan Ortagus, at the second presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh. The meeting, which lasted over an hour, included discussions on political and field developments in Lebanon and the wider region. U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson and Speaker Berri's Media Advisor Ali Hamdan were also present.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri raised concerns with the U.S. envoy regarding Israel's adherence to the ceasefire agreement and its withdrawal from Lebanese territory to internationally recognized borders. He emphasized that this action is crucial for stability in Lebanon and would enable the reconstruction process, allowing residents to return to their towns and securing support for the Lebanese army.
U.S. Envoy Thomas Barrack expressed a shared commitment to achieving prosperity and comprehensive peace for all communities, noting that progress is being made in the right direction.
In a separate meeting, Speaker Berri engaged with British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, discussing the latest developments and bilateral relations between Lebanon and the United Kingdom. Additionally, Berri met with Minister of Telecommunications, Charles Hajj, to discuss the general situation and issues related to the telecommunications sector.
