Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday held a series of meetings at his Ain al-Tineh residence, addressing political, economic, and security matters. Berri engaged in discussions with key national figures, including the caretaker Defense Minister, the Economy Minister, and the Army Chief, focusing on the country's pressing issues. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Berri met with caretaker Defense Minister Maurice Sleem to discuss political, military, and security developments. The meeting aimed to address the strategic challenges facing Lebanon and evaluate the current security landscape. Caretaker Economy Minister Amin Salam briefed Berri on the outcomes of his recent visits to the U.S. and Arab nations. Salam emphasized global support for Lebanon during its critical phase and highlighted the importance of the ceasefire as a transitional step. He noted international praise for Berri's role in averting further escalation and expressed optimism about Lebanon's potential for economic recovery. Salam also stressed the urgency of institutional reforms, particularly the election of a new president. Additionally, Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, discussed with the House Speaker the current security challenges and the military's readiness to address ongoing responsibilities. Their discussions focused on maintaining stability and ensuring the army's preparedness to handle any emerging threats.
