Beirut: Caretaker Foreign Minister, Abdullah Bou Habib, on Thursday engaged in a significant dialogue with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, who reached out via phone to convey Iran’s backing for the ceasefire in Lebanon.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Bou Habib expressed gratitude towards Araghchi for Iran’s supportive stance and stressed the crucial need for ongoing assistance in implementing the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. This resolution, pivotal in maintaining peace, necessitates international cooperation to ensure its effective execution.
In the conversation, Araghchi affirmed Iran’s dedication to bolstering the Lebanese Army by enhancing its capabilities. This support aims to secure the region south of the Litani River, a critical area for maintaining Lebanon’s stability and security.
Furthermore, both ministers concurred on the importance of reinstating stability and ensuring the complete sovereignty of the Syrian state across its entire territory
