Brazil: As of July 1st, Brazil assumes the Chairmanship of the Advisory Commission of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) for a one-year term. The Advisory Commission is tasked with advising and assisting the UNRWA Commissioner-General, currently Swiss national Philippe Lazzarini, in the fulfillment of the Agency's mandate.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Brazil has been a member of the Advisory Commission since 2014 and recognizes the Agency's irreplaceable nature and the essential role it plays in delivering basic services to Palestinian refugees. Brazil's chairmanship of the Advisory Commission reflects the country's commitment to upholding UNRWA's mandate and calls on the international community to provide sustained financial and political support for the Agency's activities.
