Paris: At the G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting in France, the UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper announced an additional £2 million in UK humanitarian funding to Lebanon, bringing the total UK contribution to £9.5 million since the beginning of the conflict.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, this funding will support the UN OCHA's Lebanon Humanitarian Fund (LHF) in responding to growing humanitarian needs. The LHF provides essential resources such as food, water, health services, shelter, and protection support to conflict-affected communities throughout the country.
The UK's continued commitment is highlighted by this funding, aiming to support vulnerable communities amid increasing humanitarian pressures. British Ambassador to Lebanon Hamish Cowell stated: "The UK remains deeply concerned about the worsening humanitarian situation in Lebanon. The Foreign Secretary announced additional humanitarian funding to support vulnerable communities across the country. We will continue to coordinate with the Government of Lebanon and humanitarian partners."
