Baghdad A member of the Parliament of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Dana Al-Katib, affirmed: “The total US withdrawal from the country will deepen the political differences inside the country.”
In a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), he said: “In the previous two rounds of the strategic dialogue between Iraq and the United States, several points were discussed, including the American withdrawal, and there was an agreement to schedule the withdrawal of forces from Iraq and keep some non-combat forces.”
He added: “A final withdrawal has not been discussed, and the government has not requested that, and a complete withdrawal is not yet on the table for meetings and discussions.”
He explained: “discussing this issue at this sensitive time will deepen the political differences within the country, and even the very opposition blocs and forces do not oppose the presence of supportive American forces, trainers or logistical support, and the scene will be in this way and a total withdrawal is out of the question, in addition to a study on how to deal with the Iraqi reality in any future developments.
