Beirut: National Defense Minister, Major General Michel Menassa, met with UK Deputy Chief of Defense Staff for Strategy and Military Operations, Air Marshal Harvey Smith, at his Yarzeh office. The meeting was also attended by British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, and a military delegation. The discussions focused on the bilateral relations between Lebanon and the United Kingdom.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the British delegation confirmed the UK's ongoing support for the Lebanese Army, emphasizing their assistance in border control and surveillance efforts. Minister Menassa reiterated Lebanon's commitment to implementing Resolution 1701 and maintaining the cessation of hostilities. He also urged the UK to press for Israel's withdrawal from positions it occupies in southern Lebanon.
The meeting also addressed the situation on Lebanon's eastern and northern borders with Syria, discussing the measures being taken to control these areas.
