Deputy PM Mitri Returns from UN Conference on Palestinian Statehood

Beirut: Deputy Prime Minister, Tarek Mitri, on Wednesday returned from New York after leading Lebanon's delegation at the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Question and the Two-State Solution. The conference was held at the UN headquarters on July 28-29 and was co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, drawing representatives from 126 countries.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Mitri reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative and UN Resolution 1701, while condemning Israeli violations. The conference's final statement emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Palestinian unity, and international support for reconstruction efforts, along with a UN-mandated stabilization force.

During the conference, Mitri engaged in several bilateral meetings on the sidelines, discussing further steps to promote peace and stability in the region.
