Beirut: Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian, on Wednesday received a lengthy phone call from Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel-Aaty upon his arrival in Beirut. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the call highlighted Egypt's commitment to strengthening Lebanese-Egyptian relations, ensuring Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and Arab identity, and supporting Lebanon's institutions amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression. Mufti Derian expressed the great significance of Minister Abdel-Aaty's visit, especially in the current critical situation facing Lebanon. "Egypt and President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi hold a prominent role both regionally and internationally," Derian stated, noting the shared interest in finding solutions to end the Israeli offensive on Lebanon and preserve its national unity and sovereignty. The Mufti further emphasized that Egypt's role in Lebanon has always been one of mediation and support. "Egypt's historical and continuous interest in Lebanon remains steadf ast, and Lebanon will continue to stand in solidarity and cooperation with Egypt and all its Arab brothers, free from any factions or conflicts that threaten Lebanon's security and the stability of the Arab region."
