Beirut: Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, on Tuesday welcomed at Dar al-Fatwa delegations from several Islamic associations, who briefed him on their activities and expressed support for the role of the religious authority.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, a delegation from the Al-Irshad wal-Islah Islamic Charitable Association, headed by engineer Ibrahim Taqoush, presented a review of the association's work over the past year and outlined upcoming Ramadan initiatives, including the "Zakat Ambassadors Conference" in cooperation with Lebanon's Zakat Fund. Taqoush stressed that Dar al-Fatwa must remain above political disputes and reaffirmed its national, Arab, and Islamic role.
Derian also received a delegation from the Dar Al-Saleheen Association, led by Sheikh Mohammad Bashir Al-Shayyah, which voiced full support for the Mufti amid recent criticism, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the religious reference and national unity.
In addition, the Mufti met a delegation from the Permanent Commission for the Support of Jerusalem and Palestine, which discussed activities marking the Global Jerusalem Week and commemorating Isra and Mi'raj, highlighting continued efforts to support Jerusalem and Palestine.
