Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy Promotes Dubai’s Business Environment at Expand North Star 2024

Dubai: The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, a key component of Dubai Chambers, showcased the competitive advantages of Dubai's business environment for digital startups at the Expand North Star 2024 event. The presentation, held at Dubai Harbour from October 13th to 16th, emphasized Dubai's strategic efforts to become a global capital for the digital economy, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). According to Emirates News Agency, Vice President Saeed Al Gergawi highlighted during a panel discussion that Dubai's robust infrastructure, favorable legislative framework, and diverse social environment make it an attractive destination for entrepreneurs worldwide. He underscored the emirate's proactive approach in supporting digital companies, which plays a significant role in achieving the objectives of the D33 agenda, aiming to generate AED100 billion annually through digital transformation projects. Al Gergawi also stressed the importance of Dubai as a platform for expansion into international marke ts, attributing this capability to its logistical connectivity across continents and its multicultural society. The emirate's lifestyle, advanced services, and world-class infrastructure continue to draw top talent and specialized expertise in technology sectors. Further, Al Gergawi discussed the App Olympics, an initiative by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy under the Create Apps in Dubai initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The competition aims to foster innovation across various demographics, offering substantial financial rewards and a comprehensive service package worth US$150,000 to winners for app development and a six-month mentorship program. The initiative also includes training for over 1,000 Emiratis in coding and mobile app development through the Emirati Training Academy, aiming to triple the number of app developers in Dubai by 2025 and support 100 new national projects in advanced mobile application development.
