Baghdad The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, visited the cities of Kadhimiya and Adhamiya.
According to a statement from his office, Salih performed the ceremony of visiting the shrine of the two imams Musa Al-Kadhim and Muhammad Al-Jawad (peace be upon them), praying to the Almighty to protect Iraq and its people from all harm.
He stressed: the great and prestigious status of the city of Kadhimiya, and its role in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, equality and tolerance among the components and spectra of the Iraqi people, and its impact on strengthening social ties and consolidating unity among Iraqis.
The President of the Republic also visited the shrine of Imam Abu Hanifa al-Numan, in the city of Adhamiya, and he prayed to God to grant Iraq security, stability and peace.
The President of the Republic pointed out that the city of Adhamiya has a rich history throughout the time periods, as it is a point and axis for fraternity, solidarity and a meeting place for science and scholars.
Salih recalled the tragedy of the Imams Bridge for the honorable pilgrims who were about to visit the two Imams in Kadhimiya , and the sacrifice made by the martyr Othman Al-Obaidi (may God bless his soul) from Al-Adhamiya to save the pilgrims from drowning, as he was martyred for the sake of his brothers.
He stressed that the two loving sister cities, Al-Kadhimiya and Al-Adhamiya, have a prominent role in taming sedition, confronting deviant extremist ideas, and consolidating the values of love and harmony, as they are a symbol of unity and cohesion among Iraqis.
Salih stressed that Iraq is a capable, sovereign state, and it will remain resistant and impenetrable to those who want to stir up sedition or those who try to tamper with its security and stability, through the cohesion and unity of its sons and national forces, and their insistence on achieving reform and curbing corruption, and meeting the legitimate demands of the mass and popular movement.
