DUBAI: Aviation Future Week (AFW), a pivotal event co-hosted by Emirates Airline and the Museum of the Future, entered its second day, emphasizing the significant role of air-freight and logistics in global economic expansion. Industry experts discussed the adoption of advanced technologies and sustainable practices that could drive efficiency in the logistics sector. According to Emirates News Agency, the day featured speeches and panels with key industry leaders who underscored the transformative effects of innovative technologies in airline engineering and maintenance. Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer of Emirates, highlighted Dubai's strategic position as a global trade hub, facilitated by its advanced infrastructure and connectivity. He noted the potential for growth in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), vital for supporting regional fleet expansion. Majed Al Mansoori, Deputy Executive Director at the Museum of the Future, initiated the day's proceedings by noting the tr ansformative impact of the aviation sector on Dubai's development into a global metropolis. He described the Museum of the Future as a hub for innovative thinking, particularly in aviation. The event also included a panel titled "Perspective of Freight Demand and Logistics Centre," where industry veterans like Nadeem Sultan from Emirates SkyCargo and Robert Frei from DP World discussed the evolving landscape of global air cargo. They pointed out the ongoing challenges and opportunities in digital transformation and the integration of transport infrastructures. Ram Menen, a founding member of Emirates SkyCargo, indicated that demand in the freight sector is expected to continue outpacing supply due to the growth of e-commerce and ongoing recovery from supply chain disruptions. Collaboration across various sectors was emphasized as crucial for unlocking further growth. Another panel, "Expanding Capabilities of MRO," featured insights from leaders at Rolls Royce, GE Aerospace, Jamco, and Joramco.
