Aita al-shaab: The Ministry of Environment said it is following up on reports from the town of Aita al-Shaab and surrounding areas regarding Israeli aircraft allegedly spraying substances suspected to be "pesticides."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Environment Minister Dr. Tamara El-Zein stated that she has reached out to Army Commander General Rodolph Haykal. The minister requested the collection of samples from the affected sites for laboratory analysis in order to determine the nature of these substances and to decide on the appropriate course of action.
Dr. El-Zein highlighted that if the substances are confirmed to be toxic, such actions would not be unexpected. She recalled past incidents where Israel used white phosphorus and incendiary munitions, resulting in the burning of nearly 9,000 hectares in Lebanon. This, she noted, was part of what she described as deliberate environmental destruction aimed at undermining the resilience of southern residents on their land.
