Beirut: The Ministries of Finance, Labor, and State for Administrative Development have jointly launched Lebanon's new E-Payment Gateway. This initiative was unveiled during a press conference at the Ministry of Labor, attended by Ministers Yassine Jaber, Fadi Makki, and Mohammad Haidar.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Mohammad Haidar described the initiative as a significant step toward modernizing services, enabling citizens to complete transactions and pay fees online. Finance Minister Yassine Jaber confirmed that agreements with banks will soon facilitate card payments across all ministries, reducing reliance on cash. Minister Fadi Makki highlighted the digital transition, noting that half of the 67 services offered by the Labor Ministry are now integrated, with nearly 60% of e-payments successfully processed.
Makki emphasized that the reform aims to enhance public services through digitization of records, adoption of electronic stamps, and expanded online services. Haidar also announced the forthcoming provision of card-payment machines at the Labor Ministry for non-digital transactions, which will eliminate the need for paper stamps.
The ministers pointed out that the project not only modernizes administration but also curbs corruption and restores public trust in state institutions. Later, Minister Haidar engaged in discussions with Jordan's Ambassador, Walid Hadid, to strengthen bilateral relations.
