Beirut: Minister of Finance, Yassine Jaber, on Tuesday welcomed a delegation from the French Treasury to discuss financial reform and technical cooperation. The delegation was led by Ms. Magali Cesana, Head of the Bilateral Affairs and International Business Development Department at the General Treasury, and included Fran§ois Sporrer, Head of the Economic Department at the French Embassy, and Economic and Financial Attach, Kenza Ouazzani. Advisor Claudine Karky and French Treasury expert Abdnor Brahimi were also present at the meeting.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting focused on the Lebanese government's efforts in governance and the Ministry of Finance's initiatives to modernize its administration through digitization. This includes measures to control finances, enhance tax compliance, reduce reliance on cash transactions, and improve transparency in payment and spending processes.
Minister Jaber highlighted the ministry's steps, noting their significant impact on economic stability and inflation reduction in recent months. The discussions also covered future priorities, particularly the ongoing dialogue with the International Monetary Fund and the economic recovery plan.
Ms. Cesana, representing the French Treasury, reiterated France's commitment to supporting Lebanon's reform efforts and the restoration of financial and institutional stability. She emphasized the importance of continuing collaboration to enhance technical cooperation and develop financial and administrative systems.
