Beirut: A delegation from the team behind the film Finikia met with Acting Public Affairs Officer Tina Ziegenhain and Cultural Affairs Officer Evelyn Garrity at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. The delegation included Father Johnny Saba, Film Producer, Oscar El-Zoghbi, International Executive Producer, and Laure Sleiman Saab, Head of Public Relations and Media.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, discussions centered on ensuring the safety of the crew arriving from the United States-including actors, directors, technicians, and other professionals-in coordination with Lebanese security agencies. El Zoghbi shared updates on preparations for filming in Lebanon in partnership with Hollywood, emphasizing the project's aim to showcase Lebanon's historical and cultural richness, particularly its Phoenician heritage.
The delegation explored avenues of collaboration with the U.S. Embassy to facilitate the smooth execution of the production, celebrate American cinematic excellence, and spotlight Lebanon's ancient legacy. Garrity praised the initiative, noting its timeliness as Lebanon enters a new phase, and reaffirmed the Embassy's support through its wide range of exchange programs that empower Lebanese youth in music, film, and the arts.
El Zoghbi highlighted the film's potential to generate employment for Lebanese youth and stimulate the cultural and tourism sectors by promoting the country's archaeological sites. He noted the production's estimated budget of $71 million and a crew of approximately 600 professionals from Lebanon, the United States, Britain, and Australia. He also mentioned that the Embassy visit followed prior meetings with religious leaders, the Ministers of Defense, Interior, and Tourism, and the Army Commander.
Father Saba added that filming will take place on a plot of land along Lebanon's northern coast, where a Phoenician city and two Phoenician ships will be constructed specifically for the movie.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain close coordination and cooperation to ensure the success of this landmark cinematic production.
