Beirut: The Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Ministry issued a statement this evening welcoming Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's commitment to fostering good relations with the Lebanese government.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Ministry reiterated Lebanon's ongoing pursuit of the best possible relations with all countries, including Iran. It emphasized Lebanon's adherence to a rational, open, and constructive approach in international relations and expressed expectations for its counterparts to reciprocate.
The statement highlighted that rationality in international relations necessitates engagement through constitutional and legitimate state institutions, rather than through individual parties or factions within a country. The Ministry asserted that, similar to how Iran or any other nation would not tolerate a Lebanese ambassador engaging independently with political factions, Lebanon upholds the same principle.
The Ministry underscored that state-to-state relations are established through official institutions, and respect for sovereignty is a mutual principle that should not allow for selectivity or circumvention.
