French Embassy Issues Statement on Implementation of Lebanon Ceasefire Monitoring Mechanism.

Beirut: The French Embassy in Beirut has released a joint statement from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans of France regarding the monitoring mechanism for the recent ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. The ceasefire, which was signed on November 26 and took effect the following day, will be overseen by a mechanism chaired by the United States. France has urged all parties involved to adhere to the agreement and refrain from any actions that may jeopardize its stability. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, France will participate in the supervision mechanism through the representation of Brigadier General Guillaume Ponchin. He will be backed by a team of approximately ten military and civilian personnel from France's Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Armed Forces. The collaborative effort will work closely with the Lebanese Armed Forces, the Israeli Defense Forces, and the United Nations Interim Force in Leba non to ensure the ceasefire's implementation. The monitoring mechanism will also engage with the Military Technical Committee in Support of Lebanon, aiming to revitalize and deploy the Lebanese Armed Forces in southern Lebanon. France has reiterated its support for these efforts, which align with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The initiative highlights France's ongoing commitment to fostering stability and peace in the region.
