JIGAWA: Over 140 individuals lost their lives in a catastrophic fuel tanker explosion in northern Nigeria, with numerous victims reportedly collecting spilled fuel at the time of the incident. According to Jordan News Agency, a police spokesperson, Lawan Chisso Adam, explained that the tragedy occurred late last night when the tanker, having lost control, crashed and spilled its contents on the road in Jigawa state. Many of the victims were attempting to gather the spilled fuel, which subsequently ignited. The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns in regions where fuel transportation accidents have previously led to similar disasters. Efforts to improve road safety and emergency response are ongoing, but the scale of this tragedy has prompted calls for more stringent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
