GCC Secretary-General Commends UAE’s Role in Russia-Ukraine Prisoner Exchange

RIYADH: The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, has lauded the United Arab Emirates for its significant mediation efforts in facilitating the exchange of 190 prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. This marks the ninth successful mediation by the UAE, underscoring its diplomatic prowess on the international stage. According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Budaiwi made a statement on Saturday highlighting the UAE's commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and dialogue. He emphasized that the successful mediation effort not only serves as a diplomatic and humanitarian achievement but also reinforces the UAE's status as a leading force in regional and international affairs. Al-Budaiwi further stated that the UAE's mediation serves as a model for achieving global stability and peace. He noted the strong relationships between GCC countries and their regional and international partners, particularly in the realms of security and stability.
