Beirut: Lebanese Forces leader, Samir Geagea, on Tuesday emphasized that those opposing the ongoing negotiations undermine the authority of the state and its institutions. He insisted that only the president and the government are the legitimate representatives of the Lebanese people.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Geagea issued a statement highlighting that Lebanon's parliament, which is democratically elected, chose President Joseph Aoun with 99 votes. The current government has been granted confidence twice by more than a two-thirds majority. Geagea pointed out that dismissing negotiations conducted constitutionally by the president in coordination with the prime minister equates to rejecting the state and the majority of Lebanese citizens.
Geagea further stressed that officials need to act based on this principle.
