Beirut: Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Wednesday met a delegation from the municipality of Merjayat in Zahle, headed by Mayor Elie Beshalani and Deputy Mayor Ronnie Freiji, to discuss the town's development priorities and the challenges facing local government.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the delegation outlined the municipality's needs, particularly infrastructure and essential service projects, as well as the difficulties confronting municipal authorities amid Lebanon's economic and financial crisis.
Geagea stressed the importance of strengthening the role of municipalities as the cornerstone of local development, calling for continued coordination with relevant authorities to provide the conditions needed for municipalities to fulfil their responsibilities and serve citizens despite limited resources and the country's successive crises.
