Geagea Urges Lebanese Government for Immediate Action Amidst American Proposals

Beirut: Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea issued a statement this afternoon, urging the Lebanese government to take immediate action in response to recent American proposals aimed at resolving ongoing issues in Lebanon. Geagea emphasized the importance of addressing the Israeli occupation and removing illegal weapons from Lebanese soil.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Geagea expressed concern over the lack of discussion within the Council of Ministers regarding the American proposals. He noted that an American envoy is expected to arrive in Lebanon shortly, yet there has been no official stance adopted by the government on the matter.

Geagea questioned whether Lebanon is reverting to the outdated "Troika innovation" from the Assad regime era, which previously bypassed Lebanese institutions and contributed to past turmoil. He raised concerns about the current negotiation process, questioning if the Lebanese state is waiting for Hezbollah's response instead of leading the decision-making process.

The LF Chief stressed the critical nature of the situation, stating that those who fail to seize this opportunity will bear significant responsibility before the Lebanese people and history. He called for the Lebanese government to convene urgently and formulate a national response to the American proposal. This response should aim to secure an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, halt Israeli attacks, and establish a functional state that prioritizes the interests and future of its citizens.

Geagea concluded by warning against using Lebanon's fate to bolster Iran's position in upcoming international negotiations, urging an end to such strategic maneuvers.
