Beirut: Ghassan Salam©, a distinguished figure in international relations and public service, has been appointed as the new Culture Minister. Salam©'s extensive experience includes a tenure as Minister of Culture in the Lebanese Government from 2000 to 2003, showcasing his dedication to cultural development and diplomacy.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam© is a Professor of International Relations Emeritus at SciencesPo Paris and the founding dean of its Paris School for International Affairs. His contributions to the field are further highlighted by his role as Senior Advisor to UNSG Kofi Annan between 2003 and 2007. Furthermore, Salam© played a significant part as a member of the Annan Rakhine State Commission from 2016 to 2017.
Salam©'s recent work as the United Nations Secretary-General Special Representative in Libya from 2017 to 2020 underscores his commitment to international peace and conflict resolution. His expertise extends to serving on various international boards, including the Louvre's scientific committee and the Institut du Monde arabe's High Council. Salam© has also authored and edited a dozen books, reflecting his depth of knowledge and influence in international cultural affairs.
