DUBAI: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, inaugurated GITEX GLOBAL 2024 today at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event, which runs from October 14-18, is the largest and most international in its history, marking the 44th edition of the world's leading tech and startup gathering. According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Ahmed addressed the opening ceremony, highlighting the event's global significance and its role in fostering international tech collaboration. He emphasized that GITEX GLOBAL 2024 reflects the UAE's dedication to leadership in the global digital economy. The event is expected to drive significant advancements in technology and business, promoting digital transformation across various industries. This year's GITEX GLOBAL theme, "Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy," emphasizes the creation of cross-continental alliances and acceleration of AI-driven socio-economic transformation. The first day featured Tech Investment Day, focusing on investment trends and the AI-driven economic potential that could add up to $13 trillion globally by 2030. The World Future Economy Digital Leaders Summit and AI Everything are among the key attractions. The summit discusses the AI-driven economic transformation, while AI Everything delves into the transformative impact of AI on society and industry. Over 3,500 enterprises are participating in AI Everything, presenting cutting-edge AI technologies from global tech leaders such as Adobe, Google, and Microsoft. GITEX Editions also launched its debut event, connecting 59 top global unicorns with a combined valuation of $400 billion, to fast-track the growth of global late-stage advanced tech companies. The Data Centre Symposium, another major event, will explore the future of data centers with a focus on AI-driven automation and cybersecurity. With over 180 countries participating and an almost 40% increase in international attendance, GITEX GLOBAL 2024 serves as a crucial platform for global tech collaboration, connecting governments, enterprises, investors, startups, academia, and researchers. The event also integrates Expand North Star, the world's largest startup and investment show, which runs concurrently at Dubai Harbour until October 16.
